Meeting the owner. Hi, I'm Monique Cardellini, also known as Luna Graystone

I have a background in freelance modeling and cosplay, which has fostered my lifelong passion for vibrant subcultures, including cosplay, raves, goth aesthetics, lolita fashion, and mermaiding. As a self-taught seamstress with approximately 25 years of experience, I enjoy crafting plush dolls, quilts, and clothing. My goal has always been to infuse the world with more color and to cater to niche demographics. Creating mermaid tails is a perfect way to achieve this vision, drawing inspiration from the ocean itself.

The Origins of Whimsydale Mermaid & Mermade Tails in South Australia

In 2019, a few months prior to Mercon Australia 2019, I felt a strong desire to attend the event but realized that fully enjoying the experience would require a mermaid tail. Seeking guidance from my longtime friend and professional mermaid, Mermaid Ilyena, we explored options for creating fabric tails that would be easy to transport. To meet minimum fabric order requirements, I collaborated with Mermaid Salacia and Mermaid Mizuko, redesigning their silicone tails into fabric form. This collaboration introduced me to the exciting world of designing and crafting mermaid tails.

With each tail I create, my passion continues to grow. If it weren't for the encouragement of these three incredible mermaids, I might still be admiring the mermaid community from afar rather than swimming alongside them in the Adelaide Mer Pod. My tails are inspired by the diverse shapes, sizes, and colors of real fish, and I aim to help you bring your unique mersona to life.

Initially, my startup was called Mermade Tails in South Australia, focusing on custom tails and monofin resales. Over time, I expanded my skills and techniques, leading me to rebrand in 2022 as Whimsydale Mermaid. Mermade Tails in South Australia has since become my subsidiary, offering fabric mermaid tail sewing services and fabric tail repairs.

At Whimsydale Mermaid, I am dedicated to releasing new and unique tail designs in standard sizes each month, making them readily available for everyone. I also offer monofins, custom mermaid tails, and customizable accessories and apparel. Let me help you become a one-of-a-kind mermaid!
